Modulus Single Tube Luminometer

Frequently Asked Questions: Modulus Single Tube

Note: If your question is not answered in this document, we encourage you to contact us toll free at 888-636-2401 or 408-636-2400 x 119. You may also use our online contact form. Your question will be answered by one of our trained sales, technical, or applications specialists.

What is the price of the Modulus Single Tube?
The price may vary based on your application(s) and requirements. To receive a quote customized to your needs, use our online quotation form (click here).

What is the model number for the Modulus?
Depending on the configuration, the Modulus model or part numbers are as follows:
9200-000 Dedicated Fluorometer
9200-001 Dedicated Luminometer
9200-002 Combination Fluorometer and Luminometer

What types of cuvettes and test tube sizes does the Modulus accommodate?
The Modulus Fluorometer accommodates 10x10 mm plastic (methacrylate) square cuvettes (P/N 7000-959). The minimum volume is 2 mL. The optional Minicell Adaptor (P/N 9200-928) requires the borosilicate minicell cuvette. The minimum volume for the minicell cuvette is 50 uL and the maximum volume is 250 uL.

The Modulus Luminometer accommodates 1.5 mL microfuge tubes such as the Costar microfuge tube from Corning Life Sciences. Because the Modulus Luminometer is a bottom-reading luminometer, it does not require a minimum volume.

What is the Spreadsheet Interface Software (SIS) for the Modulus?
The SIS provides an easy way to report results from the Modulus to an Excel spreadsheet. The SIS requires Microsoft Windows 98 or later as well as Excel 97 or later.

Is the Spreadsheet Interface Software (SIS) Mac-compatible?
Unfortunately, the SIS is not Mac-compatible.

Does the Modulus Single Tube offer kinetic measurements?
As a fluorometer, the Continuous Sampling feature permits repeat measurements at user-defined intervals. Connect the Modulus to a PC or a printer to collect Continuous Sampling measurements.

As a luminometer, it is possible to customize any protocol for kinetic measurements. Make sure to connect the Modulus to a PC or a printer to collect kinetic data. Kinetic luminescent measurements do not report to the touchscreen.

What applications are possible on the Modulus?
The unique design of the Modulus and the available modules permit the measurements of any number of fluorescent compounds. Commonly used fluorophores such as PicoGreen®, fluorescein, Hoechst dye, Ribogreen®, NanoOrange®, Cy3, Cy5 and many others are detectable using the Modulus and one of the five Fluorescence Optical Kits.

As a luminometer, the Modulus analyses bio- and chemiluminescent signals. Firefly luciferase and Renilla luciferase systems are compatible as well as HRP and AP systems that utilize chemiluminescent substrates. Superoxide assays and ATP assays are two additional applications for the Modulus Luminometer.

The Absorbance Module permits absorbance measurements in the visible wavelength spectrum. Filters for the BCA and Bradford protein quantitation assays are available. Cell density measures are also possible on the Absorbance Module.
