What is
the price of the Veritas Microplate Luminometer?
The price may vary based on your application(s) and requirements. To receive
a quote customized to your needs, use our online quotation form (click
here).
What is
the detection system of the Veritas Microplate Luminometer?
The Veritas has a photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector. Because of its
proprietary design, this detector offers both superior sensitivity and
dynamic range.
How many
injectors can be installed in the Veritas Microplate Luminometer?
There are total of two optional injectors that can be installed on the
Veritas Microplate Luminometer.
What are
the advantages of internal automatic injectors versus external automatic
injectors?
The Veritas internal automatic injectors permit dark-adaptation
of the injectable reagents. The reagent supply remains in a protected,
dark space inside the Veritas during the experiment. Because many
reagents are light sensitive, equilibrating the reagents to dark conditions
allows for maximum reproducibility. Other microplate luminometers rely
on external automatic injectors, which draw reagents from a supply outside
of the luminometer and do not protect reagents from the influence of ambient
light. Internal injectors also shorten the supply line length and reduce
dead volume.
What kind
of microplates can the Veritas Microplate Luminometer read?
The Veritas can read any opaque white or black 96-well plates. It
can also read opaque wall clear bottom plates when used with a bottom
plate sealer (P/N 6570 Costar).
Is there
a recommended brand of 96-well plates that I should use?
Our tests show the best sensitivity is achieved using Greiner solid white
assay plates, 96-well medium binding, Lumitrac 200. These plates can be
purchased through E&K Scientific (Cat # EK25075) in cases of 40 plates.
What operating
software does Veritas come with?
The Veritas has a PC based Direct-to-Excel software. The software
operates the instrument and reports the data directly to an Excel spreadsheet.
What operating
systems are compatible with the Veritas software?
The Veritas software is compatible with Microsoft Windows® 95
or later.
Can I
do kinetic measurements?
Yes, the current version of the software supports kinetic measurement.
Is the
software compatible with Macintosh® operating systems?
No, it is not compatible with Macintosh operating systems.
What applications
can I use this instrument for?
You can run all bio- and chemiluminescent, flash and glow type of applications
on the Veritas. The primary applications are: Reporter gene assays,
ATP assays, Immunoassays, Cytotoxicity, Cell proliferation, Nucleic acid
quantitation, Enzyme assays, Intracellular Ca2+
Can I
use the Veritas for flash reactions?
Yes, you can run flash reactions if the Veritas has injector(s)
installed.
What is
the sensitivity of the Veritas Microplate Luminometer?
The Veritas has a detection limit of 3x10-21 moles luciferase using
Promega's luciferase assay reagent.
How does
the sensitivity of the Veritas compare to other luminometers?
The sensitivity of the Veritas is 10 times higher than the leading
competitor's instrument. The Veritas is also comparable in sensitivity
to the TD-20/20 Single Tube Luminometer.
What is
the dynamic range of the Veritas?
The Veritas has over 9 decades of dynamic range.
How does
the dynamic range of the Veritas compare to other instruments?
Other instruments on the market usually have dynamic range of 6 decades.
What is
the injection volume and precision of the Veritas?
The injection volume is selectable between 25 and 250 µL (±1
µL); CV% <1%
What is
the crosstalk of the Veritas?
The crosstalk of the Veritas is less than 3x10-5 with a white 96-well
plate. When using a black plate the crosstalk is less than 3x10-7.
Do I need
to change anything for power requirements in different countries?
No, the Veritas has an internal universal power supply. Simply use
the proper AC adapter.
What is
the Veritas Microplate Luminometer Light Plate?
The light plate is designed to provide a quick and easy way to verify
the performance of the Veritas. It allows the user to check the
reproducibility, sensitivity, and linearity of a luminometer in less than
1 minute. The light plate consists of three highly stable light sources
that simulate luminescence samples at signal levels spreading over four
decades. It can be used for both short and long term stability studies
of the detection system.
What software
do I need on my PC?
The Veritas software is provided on a CD and is easy to install.
You only need to have an available serial port to connect to the Veritas.
You must have MS Excel installed on your computer.
Does the
instrument attach to a printer?
No, the printer does not directly connect to the Veritas. Instead,
the printer attaches to the PC that is connected to the Veritas.
Does the
Veritas software work with older versions of Windows® software?
We were able to test the Veritas software on Windows® 95. The
Veritas software was successful in translating to MS Excel.
